A.R.E. 51 - UFO & ET

Religious texts of every persuasion contain descriptions of events which some choose to interpret as extraterrestrial (or interdimensional) in nature, but resistance to such thinking is more the rule and the exception when it comes to the orthodox views of organized religion. The inflexibility encountered in fundamentalist thinking of all varieties further inhibits humanity’s ability to come to terms the reality of UFOs and the intelligences behind the phenomenon. In this talk we will review some of the beliefs,  traditions, alleged evidences and historic claims which frame the subject of UFOs for people of faith. A review of the Catholic Church’s position on the subject will be included as well as a focus on fundamentalist thinking and beliefs. The fact is that deeply held and virtually inflexible convictions not only inhibit any meaningful dialogue in this area, but signal a potential to ignite fear, misunderstanding and even violence should our government ever choose to acknowledge that UFOs are, to quote General Nathan M. Twinings, ‘something real and not visionary or fictitious.’
 
 
Peter Robbins:
 
Peter Robbins is one of the best known investigative writers and speakers with regard to the study of UFOs. He’s been involved in this field for more than thirty years, as a researcher, investigator, writer, lecturer, activist and author. A regular fixture on radio shows around the country, he has also appeared as a guest on and been consultant to numerous television shows and documentaries, and is also is co-author of the British best-seller, Left at East Gate: A First-Hand Account of the Rendlesham Forest UFO Incident, Its Cover-Up and Investigation.

Robbins credits include editorial assistance on a requested papers for the United Nations 1978 initiative “for the establishment of a UN-UFO Department," and Parliament’s House of Lords 1980 Debate on UFOs. For six years Peter was a columnist for UFO Magazine “ and served as Event Coordinator for the SCI FI Channel’s ‘Alien Abduction Phenomenon: A Symposium’ which was organized to promote the release of the Steven Spielberg miniseries ‘Taken.’ He has written for numerous publications and websites and is an advisor to the McMinnville Oregon UFO Festival Conference and producer of this coming September’s Exeter New Hampshire UFO Festival and Conference. He is currently employed by the City of Roswell, New Mexico as a Public Relations Representative, Media Liaison, UFO Symposium Coordinator and consultant.
