Edgar Cayce Readings

The Edgar Cayce readings emphasize the spiritual nature of humankind. However, because of the demands of life we frequently overlook the truest part of ourselves, which is our connection to spirit. Although we possess physical bodies and mental attitudes, ultimately our deepest connection is to our spiritual source.

One of the most frequently mentioned concepts in the Edgar Cayce material is that Spirit is the Life, Mind is the Builder, and the Physical is the Result. In other words, spirit is the source of all life. The mind focuses that energy into creative (positive) or destructive (negative) avenues of expression. The impact of our choices will eventually find expression in the physical, affecting ourselves and our relationships with one another.

Because of the importance of working with spiritual principles in everyday life, in 1931 the Edgar Cayce readings began outlining a series of lessons on spiritual growth that are still being studied by individuals around the world from all walks of life and religious backgrounds. Today, the A.R.E. Spiritual Growth Activities/Search for God department stays in contact with hundreds of groups working with these lessons on personal spiritual growth.

In order to become more attuned to our spiritual source, for decades the Cayce readings emphasized the importance of meditation . Cayce believed that meditation was listening to God, while prayer was talking. The same year that the original Search for God program was started, Edgar Cayce began the Glad Helpers Healing Prayer Group, which is still active. Today, A.R.E. maintains an active Prayer Services department, offering individuals the opportunity to pray or to be prayed for. If you would like more information see Edgar Cayce on Prayer / Request for Prayer.

CAYCE ON DREAMING
Interpreting Dreams the Cayce Way with Dr. Barbara Barnum, RN, PhD

August 10, 2010, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

CAYCE ON DREAMING:  Interpreting Dreams the Cayce Way

with Dr. Barbara Barnum, RN, PhD

4 week series- Tuesdays, Aug 10, 17, 24, 31 -  7-9pm;

Members:  $50; Nonmembers: $65;  Drop in: Members: $20; Nonmembers: $25

Participants will use their own dreams for practice in interpreting dreams using Edgar Cayce’s method.  We’ll study Cayce’s philosophy that dreams occur on many levels, from reflecting everyday events to providing deep spiritual messages.  Using today’s knowledge of mind/brain physiology, we’ll examine his theory of the conscious/unconscious and compare it with other dream theories, e.g., Freud’s and Jung’s.  We’ll apply Cayce’s suggestions for remembering and interpreting dreams  while still respecting the dreamer’s ownership of the interpretation.  Cayce explains that a single dream may combine meanings from many different levels.  He also explains how dreams relate to other forms of visions.  He differentiates universal symbols from individual dream symbols.  We’ll use all this information in our dream interpretations.

Dr. Barbara Stevens Barnum, RN, PhD, spent much of her career at Columbia University, including holding the Directorship, Division of Health Services, Sciences and Education at Teachers College.  She served as editor of two professional journals: Nursing Leadership Forum and Nursing & Health Care.  Her books include: Nursing theory: Analysis, application, evaluation; Spirituality in nursing; The new healers: Minds and hands in complementary medicine; and The nurse as executive. Edgar Cayce as Ra Ta in Egypt
w. Jack Rosen

October 3, 2010, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Edgar Cayce as Ra Ta in Egypt

w. Jack Rosen

The readings say that Ra Ta (who was a previous incarnation of Edgar Cayce), predicted that the tribe of Zu would invade Egypt and rejuvenate it. This took place three hundred years before the final sinking of Atlantis and 11,016 years before the coming of Christ. Ra Ta was 21 at the time and according to the readings was born from a virgin birth.

This workshop will explore the nearly three hundred years that Ra Ta was the high priest in Egypt; the interactions with the Atlanteans who were fleeing their country and who brought with them their creatures half man, half beast and the everyday workings of the Temple of Sacrifice and The Temple Beautiful where feathers and hooves and other appendages were cleansed from the body, and where people were taught about their relationship to God. It will also cover how and why the Pyramid of Gizeh and the Sphynx were built, and some of the prophecies that were built into its construction.

Q - You will have before you the soul-body and the mind of Edgar Cayce, present in this room. You will give a detailed life history of this entity’s appearance in Egypt as Ra Ta, and his associations with those of that period with whom he is closely associated in the present.

A - Yes we have the entity...recorded as Ra Ta... . The entity...was the son of a daughter of Zu that was not begotten of man. 294-147

In that particular experience there were still those who were physically entangled in the animal kingdom with appendages, with cloven hoofs, with four legs, with portions of trees, with tails, with scales... This priest, this Ra Ta attempted to eradicate same; in that manner as might be compared to the hospitalization in the present... of operative measures to remove growths of various characters throughout the system. 2072-8

The entity was among those purified in the Temple of Sacrifice for the bringing into the world of a purer, a better race. 1223-4

The entity lived to be quite an elderly person––as it was two hundred and ninety-eight years. 1223-6

Q- How was this particular Great Pyramid of Gizeh built?

A- By the use of those forces in nature as make for iron to swim. Stone floats in the air in the same manner. ...5748-6

Cayce on Dreaming & Dream Analysis

Pre-registration discount by September 11th
Members $100 Nonmembers $110

This two day workshop will focus on giving the participant an overview of Cayce’s philosophy of dreaming and beginning experience in analyzing dreams by his method.  The first day will focus on Cayce’s philosophy of dreaming, its purpose and levels of dreams, from 1) physical, 2) self-revealing, 3) psychic, to 4) spiritual.  We will also stress his techniques for 1). retaining dreams and 2) analyzing them. Analysis of universal and personal dream symbols will be included.  The day will include practice in analyzing some dreams offered by the participants in the workshop.  We will use methods that enable the dreamer to benefit from the analysis offered by others without losing his/her ownership of the dream.
The second day will deepen knowledge of Cayce’s method by comparing and contrasting his approach with approaches of Freud and/or Jung, seeing how they differed in their perceptions of the altered states of conscious in: 1) unconsciousness, 2) the sleeping state, and 3) dreaming.  We’ll look in particular at how they differed on the purposes of dreams.  We’ll also view Cayce’s philosophy and methods through modern knowledge of dreams such as the five stages of the dream cycle and the different brain waves during this cycle (from beta, to alpha, to theta, to delta.)  We’ll ask how Cayce might view dreaming if he had lived at this time, given modern dream research.   Further analysis of dreams from the group by Cayce’s method will complete this day.
