Seekers of Truth
in the Shadows
Four Wednesdays: July 8, 15, 22, 29  with T.C.Eisele
The most common illustration of the Spiritual journey is the relationship between darkness and the light. Those who courageously face their inner darkness as they seek Enlightenment are known as "Spiritual Warriors."
Over 4 weeks this class will look closely at the revolutionary ideas of 4 individuals who challenged both their inner Deamons and the dogma of their day to become just that - Spiritual Warriors.
John Dee (1527-1608)
The premier English intellectual of his generation, Dee was celebrated throughout Europe as a Mathematician, Navigator, Scientist, Spiritual Explorer and Alchemist who also served Queen Elizabeth as her personal Astrologer. This class we will look at Dee's ground breaking "Monas Hieroglyphicas" as well as his controversial explorations into the Enochian or "Angelic" realms.
Aleister Crowley (1875-1947)
Mystic, Poet, Adventurer, and Mountain Climber, Crowley was included in a 2002
BBC Poll as one of the top 100 Britons of all time.
His motto "The Aim of Religion, the Method of Science" was the driving force behind a Spiritual Philosophy he called "Magick." This class will discuss his core principles, including "The True Will" and what he meant when he stated "Do What Thou Wilt."
George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff (1872?-1949)
Adventurer, Mystic, and Spiritual Teacher, Gurdjieff was the embodiment of the "Mysterious East". This talk will explore his viewpoint that humans are born asleep and cannot "do" or "be" until they have worked relentlessly to free themselves, as well as the Enneagram, a symbol brought to the West by Gurdjieff and used as his main teaching tool.
Wilhelm Reich (1897-1957)
A premier student of Freud, Reich eventually came to challenge not only the work of his mentor, but the very foundations of all scientific thought with his discovery of Orgone Energy.
This class will discuss the basic philosophy of this highly controversial figure including the concepts of Orgone, Armoring, and The Emotional Plague.
Members: $20 per evening; Non-Members: $25
